And so it came to be
this isolation that I am
I can only look to me
to find the way it all began -
this confusion, constant
hunger for something more than this
I strive to find this being
that I envision, yet seem to miss.
Could it be that I am empty-
or maybe a little lost?
Could it be that I am lonely,
or seek happiness at any cost?
This never-ending Something
that I am living deep inside,
depicts the illusion of myself
and all I have to hide.

Some people jump out of bed
Happily starting their day
At first light of dawn.
How do they do that?
Some people can step into
A room full of strangers
And step out of it
With a new friend
How do they do that?
Some people
After a disappointment
Are able to detach
Let it go and move on.
How do they do that?

There Will Be Peace
when attitudes change;
when self-interest is seen as part of common interest;
when old wrongs, old scores, old mistakes
are deleted from the account;
when the aim becomes co-operation and mutual benefit
rather than revenge or seizing maximum personal or group gain;
when justice and equality before the law
become the basis of government;
when basic freedoms exist;
when leaders – political, religious, educational – and the police and media
wholeheartedly embrace the concepts of justice, equality, freedom, tolerance, and reconciliation as a basis for renewal;
when parents teach their children new ways to think about people.
There will be peace:
when enemies become fellow human beings.

Faith is not a passive thing–mere believing or waiting. It is an active thing–a positive striving and achievement, even if conditions be untoward
Faith is not merely praying
Upon your knees at night;
Faith is not merely straying
Through darkness to the light.
Faith is not merely waiting
For glory that may be,
Faith is not merely hating
The sinful ecstasy.
Faith is the brave endeavor
The splendid enterprise,
The strength to serve, whatever
Conditions may arise.
S.E. Kiser.

An interesting story poem I came across today. I think it’s a great way of making a point we all know deep down in our hearts, but sometimes fall victim to anyway. Worth the read. Read the rest of this entry »
